Green, the leading Swiss data center provider, today announced the commencement of construction for two new data centers on the Metro-Campus Zurich in Dielsdorf. This expansion, dubbed ‘phase three’, was necessitated by the rapid growth of demand for secure and high-performance data centers.
The two new data centers will provide room for around 4,000 server racks, for up to 160,000 IT systems, covering an area of 11,600 m2. The campus will also feature a business park with an office building, to be completed in summer 2024.
The two new data centers will also feature waste heat extraction, enabling the surrounding municipalities to benefit from CO2-neutral heating. Green is working closely with Energie 360° to plan and implement several cooperative district heating projects in the region. With the waste heat of the two new data centers, further households and industry will be supplied with district heating in the region.
“Our growth reflects the rapid technology and digitalization push,” said Roger Süess, CEO of Green. “Modern data centers are needed to ensure that this transformation can be realized in Switzerland quickly, securely and sustainably. We’re doing our bit for the circular economy and supporting the energy transition through the use of waste heat as well as a number of other measures. We are convinced that future-oriented digitalization can only be achieved through sustainable data centers.”

The Metro-Campus Zurich, located in Dielsdorf, covers an area of 46,000 m2 and comprises high-performance and energy-efficient data centers, as well as a business park with office building. The first data center was completed in December 2022, with the modern office building currently under construction and set to be ready for occupation in the summer of 2024.
Green is the leading Swiss data center provider and is regularly praised on the global stage with its range of services, being awarded an M&O Stamp of Approval by Uptime Institute and named the Swiss market leader for data centers and colocation by international consulting firm ISG.
Today, Green announced the commencement of building work on two additional data centers on their Metro-Campus Zurich in Dielsdorf. Aiming to increase their data center capacities by 35 megawatts for the operation of customer systems, the project is set to provide room for up to 160,000 IT systems and will feature waste heat extraction to benefit the surrounding municipalities.
