A leading Indian social enterprise’s remarkable story is revealed in a new book.

Agastya International Foundation, an Indian education trust and non-profit organization, has announced the release of a new book titled “The Moving of Mountains” on February 22, 2024. The book, written by trustee Adhirath Sethi, provides an insider’s perspective on the remarkable origins of the organization and the individuals who have dedicated themselves to making a difference.

Established in 1999 by a team of scientists, educators, and entrepreneurs led by Ramji Raghavan, Agastya aims to ignite curiosity, nurture creativity, and build confidence among economically disadvantaged children and teachers in India. The organization has become one of the most notable social enterprise success stories in the world, with a mission to transform India’s education system through unique projects and programs.

In his book, Sethi shares the vision and beliefs behind Agastya and highlights the stories of the children who have benefited from its renowned experiments in educational innovation and project-based learning programs. He explains his reason for writing the book, stating, “Agastya’s story is unique and highly inspirational. It offers a multitude of learnings that can be applied not only in the non-profit sector, but for anyone looking to build a world-class institution from the ground up. The anecdotes and humanity at the core of Agastya make it a compelling tale that must be told.”

“The Moving of Mountains” also includes photographs and interviews with key individuals involved in the founding and growth of Agastya. Sethi, a businessman and author, was formerly a management consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. He currently serves as a Director of Poly Fluoro Ltd, his family’s business in India, and is a trustee of Agastya.

The book is published by LID Publishing and will be available in both paperback and e-book formats.
