An out-of-hours service has been launched to support people with neuro conditions who are employed.

The Chilterns Neuro Centre has recently launched an out-of-hours service, in order to provide support for people with MS, Parkinson’s and stroke survivors who are in work.

Exercise is known to benefit everyone’s health and wellbeing, but for those living with neurological conditions, it can help to manage the complexities of the condition. Studies have proven that intense workouts can help with symptoms such as fatigue and cognition, which are commonly reported by those with neurological conditions.

The out-of-hours classes are specifically designed to accommodate the busy schedules of working people living with these conditions, ensuring that they are able to prioritise their health and wellbeing.

Jody Barber, Head of Integrated Clinical Services at the Chilterns Neuro Centre, commented: “Our vision at the Centre is to help people with neurological conditions to live life to the full and for many of our members that means staying in work. We want to do what we can for all people affected by MS, Parkinson’s and strokes so our new out-of-hours service is another step towards achieving that.”

Joe Harman, Exercise Lead and Musculoskeletal Therapist at the Centre, added: “Exercise helps maintain independence, strength and function for people with neuro conditions. It helps our members to positively manage and cope with the progression of their condition.”

The out-of-hours services initially includes classes that can be accessed live online before or after the working day, with plans to expand further depending on demand.

Those who feel they would benefit from the services offered by the Centre, or know someone who would, can get in touch by phoning 01296 696133 or emailing info@chilternsneurocentre.org.
