International Animal Rescue Shares Successful Mangrove Planting Results as World Planting Day is Celebrated with ‘One-Click’ Effort to ‘Plant One Tree’

International Animal Rescue (IAR) is proud to share the success of its recent mangrove planting activity, organized through its holistic conservation programme, IARconserves. As World Planting Day approaches on March 21, IAR invites individuals worldwide to join its efforts and help protect coastal ecosystems.

In collaboration with its implementation partner YIARI, IARconserves organized a community-based mangrove restoration project in Sungai Besar Village, Matan Hilir Selatan District, Ketapang Regency, Indonesia. Over three days, a team of 18 dedicated individuals planted 1,750 mangrove seeds, covering a total area of 1,385 square meters. This project, primarily focused on the Rhizophora species, has significantly contributed to the restoration of coastal ecosystems.

Gavin Bruce, CEO of International Animal Rescue, expressed his delight in the success of the project, stating, “Our mangrove planting activities not only aim to restore vital coastal habitats but also empower local communities and support biodiversity conservation.” He added, “Through our tree planting efforts, we ensure that IARconserves projects align with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by protecting coastal communities, regenerating ecosystems, and mitigating climate change.”

In addition to its mangrove planting activities, International Animal Rescue is excited to announce its partnership with Running on Plants, aiming to enhance reforestation efforts in Indonesia and beyond. Together, they strive to protect coastal areas and their wildlife.

As World Planting Day approaches, IAR encourages individuals worldwide to join its award-winning and inspiring reforestation programme by planting a tree today. By supporting initiatives like mangrove restoration and tree planting, everyone can contribute to building a safer and more sustainable planet for future generations.

To make it easier for individuals to participate in World Planting Day, IAR has provided a link where anyone can plant a tree with just one click. Gavin Bruce urges everyone to take part, saying, “It’s about the cost of a cup of coffee on World Planting Day and taking a positive step for future generations.” The link to plant a tree is https://bit.ly/IARPlantATree.

Mangroves play a critical role in maintaining the health and protection of coastal ecosystems. They provide a range of benefits such as coastal protection, habitat for diverse species, carbon sequestration, and nutrient cycling. By protecting and restoring mangrove habitats, we can ensure the sustainability of coastal communities and address global environmental challenges.

International Animal Rescue is an award-winning animal protection and conservation organization. Its vision is a world where humans and animals coexist in sustainable ecosystems. The organization’s mission is to build awareness and implement effective systems to protect habitats and animals. IAR’s work includes rescuing and rehabilitating animals, such as bears, orangutans, and howler monkeys, and releasing them back into the wild whenever possible. For animals that cannot be released, sanctuary care is provided. Additionally, IAR’s holistic conservation programme, IARconserves, focuses on addressing the root cause of issues through innovative initiatives alongside communities.
