It has been announced that there will not be a WynterCon in Eastbourne in 2024.

On Friday 15 December, it was announced that WynterCon, a key part of Eastbourne’s cultural scene for over ten years, has made the difficult decision to relocate to Hastings Station Plaza Campus. This move is a direct response to the unsustainable increases in venue costs, with a staggering 58% rise in 2023 and an additional 33% hike for 2024.

The relocation of WynterCon has widespread implications, not least of which is the loss of over 800-night hotel stays usually secured during the event’s off-season. Despite this, the team at WynterCon remain optimistic and see the move as an opportunity to broaden their community.

The chosen venue is easily accessible, being located right beside the train and bus station in the middle of Hastings. The team at East Sussex College – Hastings Station Plaza Campus have been instrumental in facilitating a smooth transition to the new venue, demonstrating a professional and warm approach.

“We’re excited about what lies ahead and are committed to making 2024 a truly memorable year,” said the WynterCon team. “Change is an integral part of growth, and WynterCon is no exception. Let’s look forward to a fantastic year, filled with new experiences and success.”

After over a decade in Eastbourne, WynterCon is set to embark on a new chapter in Hastings. The team are dedicated to their cause and remain hopeful as they look forward to the fresh opportunities this change brings.
