Tourists are creating music with wheelie bags, thanks to German Brewery Paulaner’s SoundTrack to Oktoberfest.

Munich Airport is ringing in Oktoberfest 2023 in a unique way with the Paulaner SoundTrack, an innovative installation between Terminals 1 and 2 which allows travellers to make music by rolling their suitcases along it.

The Paulaner SoundTrack is a walkable track made of acrylic glass with grooves milled into it. As travellers wheel their suitcases along the track at the speed set by a strip of light, the tones produced will create the melody of the classic Oktoberfest song, Ein Prosit der Gemütlichkeit.

This idea was based on calculations by Canadian doctor and audiologist Marshall Chasin, and is being put into place to celebrate Paulaner’s special connection to Oktoberfest. As one of six breweries in Munich, Paulaner has the privilege of being the official Oktoberfest beer and the best-selling Oktoberfest beer in retail.

Hanna Meier, PR-Managerin for Paulaner, said: “It is the best way to properly welcome Oktoberfest visitors to Munich.”

Sissi Benner-Stenzel, Director PR & Communications at thjnk, added: “We are sure that the SoundTrack will get all travellers into the Oktoberfest mood.”
