“Parkopedia to enhance the electric vehicle charging experience for drivers of BMW and MINI vehicles.”

London, UK / Munich, Germany – Parkopedia, the leading connected car services provider, has recently expanded its partnership with BMW Group to provide electric vehicle (EV) drivers with additional Point of Interest (POI) data. This new functionality includes photos and ratings of charging locations, helping EV drivers make more informed decisions about where and when to charge their vehicles.

The POI data, provided by Parkopedia, includes essential information such as the exact location of the charger, charging speed, connector type, and dynamic data such as availability and operational status. This added feature aims to alleviate the stress and anxiety that EV drivers often face when searching for suitable charging locations. The service, which is currently available in Germany, France, Netherlands, Austria, and Switzerland, has now been expanded to include Spain, Italy, Belgium, and Luxembourg, with plans to add more coverage in the near future.

According to the 2023 Parkopedia Global Driver Survey, more than 90% of EV drivers feel anxious about the charging process, with 60% considering the accuracy of charging information to be “very important” or “extremely important.” Additionally, 77% of drivers prefer to drive a vehicle that provides information on public charging locations and allows them to navigate directly to specific charging points. In response to this demand, Parkopedia is constantly working to provide the most accurate and complete data on public charging locations, making the transition to EVs easier for drivers.

Hans Puvogel, Parkopedia COO, commented, “We understand the anxiety that EV drivers face when searching for suitable charging locations, and we are pleased to offer new functionality to simplify the process. With nearly half of drivers stating that they wouldn’t own an EV due to concerns about finding charging away from home, we are committed to improving the charging experience for EV drivers.”

Puvogel also mentioned that Parkopedia plans to add verified driver reviews for charging locations to provide the highest quality and most up-to-date information possible when making charging decisions. He also expressed his excitement about the partnership with BMW Group, stating that it demonstrates their dedication to drivers and a future of electric vehicles.
