The Penguin Peloton increases their momentum, effectively defeating Cancer.

The Penguin Peloton, a cycling group made up of members of the veterans rugby team from Guy’s Hospital, will be embarking on a 250-mile journey from Guy’s Hospital Tower in London to Blackpool Tower in Lancashire from May 3rd to 5th, 2024. The purpose of this grueling journey is to raise funds for Penguins Against Cancer (PAC), a registered charity established in 2013.

PAC was founded by members of The Penguins, the oldest rugby club in the world, and has since been supported by students, alumni, colleagues, friends, and family across various hospitals and organizations. The charity’s mission is to raise cancer awareness and provide financial support for cancer research, treatment, and hospices. All expenses for PAC are covered by individual members, ensuring that 100% of donations go directly to the fight against cancer.

George Tsolakides, a member of the Penguin Peloton, expressed his honor in being asked to participate in this fundraising event. Having personally experienced the loss of loved ones to cancer, he recognizes the importance of supporting PAC in their fight against the disease. “Being able to support this wonderful charity in its fight against cancer holds profound significance,” he says.

PAC relies heavily on the generosity of donors and individuals to fulfill its mission. Through their personal experiences and journeys, these individuals play a crucial role in educating others about the realities of cancer and dispelling myths and misconceptions. By fostering understanding and empathy, they ultimately promote greater support for those affected by the disease.

The goal for the Guys Hospital to Blackpool ride is to raise £50,000, which will bring PAC’s total funds to £500,000. This milestone will enable the charity to continue its efforts in cancer awareness and provide financial support to cancer research, treatment, and hospices. All donations, no matter the amount, are greatly appreciated.
